C-Section Scar Therapy

For comfort, confidence and connection

Benefits Of A C-Section Scar Therapy

If you gave birth by c-section, your body has been through a LOT, and you have the scar to mark it. Scar therapy can help:

  • Reduce pulling and tightness in and around your scar
  • Improve numbness, tingling and altered sensation
  • Help to soften a scar that feels raised, uncomfortable or hard
  • Support recovery, confidence and wellbeing
  • Reduce the appearance of the ‘overhang’
  • Improve lymphatic drainage in the area
  • Help you to emotionally re-connect and understand your postpartum body
  • Feel more comfrtable in your body

What is scar therapy?

C-section scar therapy is a specialist treatment to support both physical recovery and emotional wellbeing following a ceasarean birth when your body may be feeling and looking a little unfamiliar.

Each session includes a full scar assessment, hands-on massage treatment on and around the scar (including manual lymphatic drainage if needed), and guided connection to the area, alongside teaching of self-massage techniques, personalised aftercare advice and product recommendations to support your ongoing recovery at home.

Whether your birth was recent or many years ago, this treatment can help you to feel at home in your body again. While scar therapy is thought to make the most difference in scars under 2 years old, it can help scars of any age.

Available as a single session or a package of 3 or 6 for deeper, ongoing support.

Why Me

C-section scar therapy with me comes from a place of both clinical understanding and specialist training. Alongside my background as a midwife and health visitor, I have trained with the UK’s leading expert in scar therapy, bringing advanced, evidence-informed skills to this work.

My approach to this therapy, as with all my treatments, is calm and nurturing alongside high standards for clinical hands-on treatment. I understand that every scar carries it’s own story and everybody has different feelings towards their scar, so treatments are never rushed and are guided by your goals.

Sessions take place in a calm, private, and restorative environment. If you’d like to, you have the option to combine scar therapy with postnatal massage for a more integrated approach to recovery and wellbeing.

FAQ

You can start scar therapy around 6 weeks after birth as long as:

  • All stitches or staples have healed
  • There are no open areas or scabs
  • There is no infection or bruising
  • You feel emotionally ready

Yes, babies are very welcome to come along with you and can be accommodated during your appointment. However, if you are able to arrange childcare for a scar therapy session, this can be helpful, as there is a good amount of information shared and discussed throughout the treatment.

Scars take around 2 years to reach maturity, so starting within in the first 2 years after your c-section is likely to yield the best results. However it is possible to treat older scars and improve how they feel and look, but the changes make take longer to see. Scars are with you for life and scar therapy can significantly improve how they feel and look by softening, flattening, and mobilising tight or adhered tissue.
