Benefits Of C-Section Scar Therapy
If you gave birth by c-section, your body has been through a LOT, and you have the scar to mark it. Scar therapy can help:

What is scar therapy?
C-section scar therapy is a specialist treatment to support your recovery following a caesarean birth, when your body may be feeling and looking a little unfamiliar.
Scar therapy sessions typically include:
- A discussion about your pregnancy, birth and recovery so far
- A detailed assessment or your scar and symptoms
- Hands-on massage treatment on and around the scar (including manual lymphatic drainage if needed)
- Guided connection to the area if looking at, or touching your scar feels difficult
- Teaching of self-massage techniques to continue at home along with personalised aftercare advice and product recommendations to support your ongoing recovery at home.
Whether your birth was recent or many years ago, this treatment can help you to feel at home in your body again. Every scar is different. Some women benefit from a series of treatments, while others leave with the advice and self-care techniques they need to continue their progress independently at home.
TOP TIP: Combine your Scar Therapy appointment with a massage. Simply book your scar therapy appointment and the massage option will appear during the booking process.
Why Me
C-section scar therapy with In Touch comes from a place of both clinical understanding and specialist training. As a midwife, I have supported hundreds of women through pregnancy, birth and recovery, including being the attending midwife in theatre for hundreds of cesarean births. I understand not only the physical changes that come with a C-section, but also the huge range of emotions that can surround your birth and your scar.
One thing I lot is that once you leave hospital, there can be surprisingly little information about what to do with your scar other than ‘keep it clean and dry’. Yet when you turn to the internet (particularly social media), you can face so much advice that it can be really difficult to work out what actually applies to you, your scar and your stage of recovery.
That’s where specialist scar therapy can be really helpful. Alongside my midwifery and health visiting background, I have trained with the UK’s leading expert in C-section scar therapy, developing specialist, evidence-informed skills to assess and work with C-section scars. I’m proud to be one of only a few C-section scar specialists in Norfolk.
My approach, as with all my treatments, is calm and nurturing alongside high standards of clinical hands-on treatment. I understand that every scar is different, and that everyone feels differently about theirs. Whether your scar feels tight, pulling, numb, sensitive, itchy, forma an overhang, or simply doesn’t feel quite like your own body yet, treatment is never rushed or pressured, and is always guided by your individual needs and goals.
Scar therapy appointments take place at The Retreat, a calm, private and cosy space rather than a bright, clinical environment. And if you’d like a little more time to relax and look after yourself, scar therapy can also be combined with massage for a more integrated approach to recovery and wellbeing.
